In use, it is required to have good welding, riveting and comprehensive mechanical properties. The raw material billets of channel steel are carbon bonded steel or low alloy steel billets with no more than 0.25% carbon content. The finished channel steel shall be delivered by hot working, normalizing or hot rolling. Its specification is expressed in the number of mm of waist height (h)* leg width (b)* waist thickness (d), such as 100*48*5.3, means the waist height is 100 mm, the leg width is 48 mm, the waist thickness is 5.3 mm, or called 10# channel steel. Channel steel with the same waist height, if there are several different leg width and waist thickness, also need to add a, B and C on the right side of the model to distinguish, such as 25# A, 25# B, 25# C, etc..

classification

Channel steel is divided into ordinary channel steel and light channel steel. The specification of hot-rolled ordinary channel steel is 5-40#. The specifications of hot-rolled alternative channel steel supplied by the parties are 6.5-30#. Channel steel is mainly used in building structures, vehicles, other industrial structures and fixed cabinets, etc. Channel steel is also often used with I-beams.

Channel steel can be divided into four types according to its shape: cold - bent channel with equal side, cold - bent channel with unequal side, cold - bent channel with internal side and cold - bent channel with external side.

According to the theory of steel structure, the channel should be stressed, which means the channel should be standing up, not lying down.
