  What is the difference between D2 and D4 xenon bulbs?

   The main difference between D2 and D4 bulbs is voltage: D2 bulbs require 85 volts, while D4 bulbs require only 42 volts. These bulbs cannot be interchanged. If a D2 bulb is installed with a D4 system, it will turn on, but shut off after only 2-3 seconds as the ballast lowers the voltage to 42 volts.Additionally, D4 bulbs are more environmentally friendly, as they are free of mercury.
