Silicone sealant is commonly used for seam sealing in wet places such as in bathrooms and in kitchens. Leakage is undesirable, not least because moisture-sensitive silicone sealant is susceptive to water and air entrapment. Therefore, packaging material adopted must be properly customized to ensure glue quality and shelf life.
To make an effective packaging solution for silicone sealant, it is recommended that internal lacquer be applied to the inner wall of aluminum tube. This would provide a safe protective layer to separate contents from tube wall. Also, latex lining can be applied at the tube’s end to prevent leakage and enhance tightness.
Large volume of silicone sealant is usually packaged in cartridges. For smaller volume usage, it is suggested that the sealant be filled in aluminum tube. Small packs of silicone sealant reduce cost and material waste.
